Surprised
"You glance around and see but a blur. Don't stop moving forward, for you might be surprised with splendor."
As I look at this picture I get a sense that someone has been walking in the tall grass of life. Everything that could possibly distract and take away from life's purpose has come. From going in endless circles repeating the same mistake, to trying to take a short cut that has left you in the mud. Life can be so tough at times and thought of quiting can seem much easier than getting back up to fight.
Before you throw in the towel, lift your head a little higher. You might be surprised how close you are in reaching the clearing, where you will find the treasure you've been looking for.
Walking in Fields of Freedom
This amazing picture was captured on a beautiful hike with my family in the Mt. Rainer National Forest. I titled this picture after praying with a group of people for a lady who was dealing with hurt and unforgiveness. The last person to pray, told the lady that she saw her running through fields of freedom.
Upon her prayer, I said, "This is what I will call it, "Walking in Fields of Freedom."
So with that in mind, "Let go of the past and be willing to embrace the beauty of your future."
A Father's Love
"This enormous world is no match for a father's love. His child rests peacefully in the safety of his arms."
This picture was taken by my lovely wife the first morning we arrived to Hawaii. I am bent over holding my adorable son Caleb, who I love to pieces. This picture depicts a true reflection of a Heavenly Father who loves us more than we can imagine. Capturing the essence of this image brings a deep joy to my heart.
Weathering Time
"Before the storms of life come, make sure your foundation is secure so it will stand the test of time."
I have been asked numerous times as to what this is. Strangely enough, when I reveal it, people say, "I guess you can find a picture in anything." This picture happen to be taken on my wife and mine's third wedding anniversary. We took a day trip to the quaint small Bavarian town of Leavenworth, WA. As we weaved through the mountains on Hwy. 2, we made a stop along the road to take pictures of the river. Many of them turned out very nice. We finally had to stop are loving picture expose because the rain starting coming down in buckets. In my attempt to get every last picture possible, I notice a interesting piece of wood with a bolt in it. It was the guard rail. Immediately my camera started clicking and I got a handful of pictures. Now you can see when people find out what it is, they conclude you can find a great picture in everything.
Sure Rock of Love
"When the storms of life come to wash you out to sea, the rock of love will keep you."
If you ever go to Maui, you have to take the road to Hana. Maybe not for the thrill of trying to keep from getting car sick, but for the lovely scenery that will captivate your imagination. After all the exploration and tromping to all the different water falls, you might seriously be tempted to pack your bags and move to paradise. For my wife and I this was true, the only problem, was trying to come up with a million dollars to buy a place. So we had to settle on making a trip in the future and just give our imagination a place to romance about.
This picture is element of this beauty. As we walked along the lava beach, I noticed a wave crashing into the rocks. My thought was, "Ooh, if I can capture that, what an amazing picture that would be." So patiently waiting, the waves began to build, and when the crash came, my camera was there to capture it. As you see, this splashing wave gave way to the inspiration of "Sure Rock of Love."
For me the rocks represent a firm foundation and the waves remind me of the constant crashing of life's storm. The promise of having a foundation that will not erode or give way is love. Not the emotional feelings, but the unconditional kind that is guaranteed to never fail.
Love need be the focus of our existence. We must find its true source and make our home there.
